Like the previous Florida insurance coverage commissioner, David Altmaier, Clever has a bachelor’s diploma in arithmetic. Clever is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. On the DOI, he served as deputy director of actuarial and market companies earlier than being named appearing director of the division.
Final yr, Clever took steps to crack down on what McMaster referred to as “shady bail bond practices,” and has overseen efforts to discourage insurance coverage fraud by way of greater than 70 arrests.
